In August we’re going back to the basics with a new series, Christianity 101. We’re going to look at questions like:
- What is Prayer?
- Why Christianity?
- Why did Jesus have to die?
- How do I read the Bible?
- What is sin?
- What is faith and how do I get more of it?
As a part of this adventure, I’m going to invite you to read through the entire Bible starting in August and finishing up in March. But…we’re going to only read 1 chapter from each of the 66 books of the Bible. So this is really a Bible overview.
Starting Monday, August 5, I’ll be sending out a Bible.Forward! email with 5 daily readings that will get us through 2-3 chapters a week. I will highlight key verses for you to read to your young kids if you have them. These readings will take no more than 5 minutes a day.
For those of you who want to use this Bible.Forward! experience as a way to deepen your knowledge of the Bible, I highly recommend a companion book: The Essential Bible Companion by John H. Walton/Mark L. Strauss/Ted Cooper, Jr.
It’s a beautifully illustrated, engaging, easy to read introduction to each book of the Bible. You can order it here (remember to use Smile.Amazon.com and designate Community of Grace Lutheran as your charity of choice!)
We’re going deep into the grace of God in Christ. I’m looking forward to what God will do in you and through you this fall.
