If you’ve ever worried before, you won’t want to miss this weekend. As we continue our series on The Prodigal’s Prayer (The Lord’s Prayer) we’re going to look at what it means to pray: Give us this day our daily bread. More than a prayer, that phrase is a worry-busting promise from God. Families with last names starting with G-K have the food table this weekend.
Throughout the month of March our Kids’ “Noisy Offering” will go to Feed My Starving Children. (See Sunday’s FAITH5 for more on this!)
Associate Pastor Call Update:
Last Saturday the call committee met for the first time for a three hour orientation on how the call process works. Their next meeting will be with Bishop Steve Talmage to firm up all the details and to get the process rolling. In addition to launching the call committee we’ve done the following to prepare for this process:
- Clarified, through an 8 month process last year, the mission, values, strategy, and measures of Community of Grace
- Created an Associate Pastor Profile
- Filled out the Ministry Profile required by the ELCA to get the process started
We are looking to partner with a local Recruiting organization to help coach us on interviews, vetting, etc. Once we reach the point of looking at candidates, the Grand Canyon Synod of the ELCA will screen them through the needs of Grace, I will then screen them, and then pass on to the committee those we feel are in line with our vision and mission. It may not be until early summer that the call committee actually begins interviews. The process can take anywhere from 4-12 months on average. Please keep in prayers your call committee: Brent Dubberstein (Committee chair), Stephani Williams, Amy Kubo, Mark DeBoer, Gordon Everson, Brandon Schultz, and Julia Quinones.
