FAITH5 Plus 1 – 10/28/2018

Hey, Grace’rs,

Your Plus 1 Assignment: Practice Dangerously Good Faith this week by finding a way to bring “good news” to someone who is poor.

FAITH5: Tonight and every night before you head to bed spend some time with those you love and do this faith-building experience together (or, do it alone as a time of before bed devotions, keeping a journal and recording the following as an act of prayer):

When he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, he went to the synagogue on the sabbath day, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

And he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he began to say to them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” (Luke 4:16-21)

03TalkIcon Talk… Take one part of the mission of Jesus and his followers each day and talk about what it means for you and your family:

How can we bring good news to the poor?
How can we proclaim release to the captives (and what kind of captives)?
How can we let the blind know they will see? (What does blindness mean here?)
How can we let the oppressed go free? (Who are the oppressed?)
How can we let people know that God favor’s (loves) them?

How has Jesus done these things for us?

Pray… for each other.
Bless… each other by affirming one thing you like about the other person. Bless each other by making the sign of the cross on each person, saying: The LORD bless you and keep you.
