FAITH5 Plus 1 – 1/29/2017

Hey, Grace’rs,

Your Plus 1 assignment: Next weekend is the first of our new monthly “tithe” weekends. If you have never experienced the power of joy of giving 10% of your income to God’s work, I want to invite you to do two things this week: 1) Pray about tithing this one weekend; and 2) Look at your income for one week and make some decisions on how you, as a family, can give away 10% of that weekly income at worship next weekend. This might be a transformative God-moment in your life and in the life of your family!

FAITH5: Tonight and every night before you head to bed spend some time with those you love and do this faith-building experience together (or, do it alone as a time of before bed devotions, keeping a journal and recording the following as an act of prayer):

01ShareIcon Share… 1 high and 1 low. What are you thankful for? What didn’t go so well today?
02ReadIcon Read… One of the dinner guests, on hearing this, said to him, “Blessed is anyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!” Then Jesus said to him, “Someone gave a great dinner and invited many. At the time for the dinner he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come; for everything is ready now.’ But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of land, and I must go out and see it; please accept my regrets.’ Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out; please accept my regrets.’ Another said, ‘I have just been married, and therefore I cannot come.’ So the slave returned and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and said to his slave, ‘Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’ And the slave said, ‘Sir, what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.’ Then the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the roads and lanes, and compel people to come in, so that my house may be filled. (Luke 14:15-24)
03TalkIcon Talk… about the verse in light of your high and low… in light of your day. What distracted you today from God’s grace? How might you re-schedule your life tomorrow to minimize a distraction or two so that you might enjoy the invitation to feast on his grace?
Pray… for each other.
Bless… each other with a word of affirmation. Make the sign of the cross on each other and say to each other: The LORD bless you and keep you.
