FAITH5 Plus 1 – 8/12/2018

Hey, Grace’rs,

This month we are focusing on the theme: Helping Homes Thrive. Every Monday you will be receiving a Helping Homes Thrive discussion starter for meal time. You may want to make that your FAITH5 experience (or you may want to do both).

Your Plus 1 assignment: As a household, find one “project” you’d like to focus on for the month of August. It may be cleaning out stuff and donating it to the West Valley Thrift Store. Or putting aside money each week to support a charitable cause you all vote on. Or you may want to do a search online for ideas.

FAITH5: Tonight and every night before you head to bed spend some time with those you love and do this faith-building experience together (or, do it alone as a time of before bed devotions, keeping a journal and recording the following as an act of prayer):

01ShareIcon Share… One high and one low from your day.
02ReadIcon Read… Now as they went on their way, he entered a certain village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks; so she came to him and asked, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:38-42)
03TalkIcon Talk… This week is another story of Jesus sharing a meal. Imagine you are Martha, responsible for making the meal for Jesus and his disciples. How would you have felt if Jesus said those words to you? Why do you think Jesus said those things to Martha? What gift or word of grace was Jesus offering her? What was it Mary was doing that Jesus affirmed? What things distract you from the important stuff in your life?
Pray… for each other.
Bless… each other by affirming one thing you like about the other person. Bless each other by making the sign of the cross on each person, saying: The LORD bless you and keep you.
