FAITH5 Plus 1 – 8/5/2018

Hey, Grace’rs,

This month we are focusing on the theme: Helping Homes Thrive. Every Monday you will be receiving a Helping Homes Thrive discussion starter for meal time. You may want to make that your FAITH5 experience (or you may want to do both).

Your Plus 1 assignment: As a household, find one “project” you’d like to focus on for the month of August. It may be cleaning out stuff and donating it to the West Valley Thrift Store. Or putting aside money each week to support a charitable cause you all vote on. Or you may want to do a search online for ideas.

FAITH5: Tonight and every night before you head to bed spend some time with those you love and do this faith-building experience together (or, do it alone as a time of before bed devotions, keeping a journal and recording the following as an act of prayer):

01ShareIcon Share… One high and one low from your day.
02ReadIcon Read… Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through it. A man was there named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was rich. He was trying to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was short in stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see him, because he was going to pass that way. When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today.” So he hurried down and was happy to welcome him. All who saw it began to grumble and said, “He has gone to be the guest of one who is a sinner.” Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.” Then Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost.”
03TalkIcon Talk… This is one of many stories where Jesus shared a meal with someone. What do you think Jesus and Zacchaeus talked about? Based on the response of Zacchaeus, it must have been a deep, heart-focused conversation. What about Jesus do you think brought such a chance in Zacchaeus? As you have a meal with your family, what important things do you want to talk about? How might you include Jesus in your meal time?
Pray… for each other.
Bless… each other by affirming one thing you like about the other person. Bless each other by making the sign of the cross on each person, saying: The LORD bless you and keep you.
