FAITH5 Plus 1 – 9/16/2018

Hey, Grace’rs,

Your Plus 1 Assignment: Pray for the Arizona Cardinals. And then find one person to bless this week with a word of thanks, a smile, a note of encouragement, etc.

FAITH5: Tonight and every night before you head to bed spend some time with those you love and do this faith-building experience together (or, do it alone as a time of before bed devotions, keeping a journal and recording the following as an act of prayer):

01ShareIcon Share… One high and one low from your day.
02ReadIcon Read… The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector (Luke 18:9-14)

He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and regarded others with contempt: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, was praying thus, ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people: thieves, rogues, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of all my income.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even look up to heaven, but was beating his breast and saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his home justified rather than the other; for all who exalt themselves will be humbled, but all who humble themselves will be exalted.”

03TalkIcon Talk… This is a story about what God is like. What does this story, or even this verse, say to you about God? God’s passion? What drives God? What does it say about God’s view of you?
Pray… for each other.
Bless… each other by affirming one thing you like about the other person. Bless each other by making the sign of the cross on each person, saying: The LORD bless you and keep you.
