Grace.Forward! – 8/8/19

Hey, Grace’rs,

It’s Back To School Weekend at Community of Grace! We’ll be honoring all of our educators with prayer, a blessing, and a gift. And…we’ll celebrate all of our kindergartners by giving each of them a new Bible.
To mark this special weekend: Free Ice-cream after Saturday@5.
We continue our new Series: Christianity 101, by taking a second look at prayer, a subject we dived into last weekend. Families with last names starting with G-K have the food table this weekend.
If you missed the sermon from last weekend you can hear it here.
If you did not receive the Prayer Habit Letter in the mail you can read it here.

Coming Up:
Worship Weekends: Christianity 101
August 10/11: How do I Pray?
August 17/18: Why Christianity?
August 24/25: What Does God Say About Marriage? (Jan and I are celebrating our 40th anniversary that weekend!)
August 31/September 1: What is the Church and Why it Matters to God… and to You!

Martin Luther on Prayer:·
To speak to God means to pray; this is indeed a great glory that the highest majesty of heaven would should stoop to us worms and permit us to open our mouths to him…”
God wants us to pray, and he wants to hear our prayers—not because we are worthy, but because he is merciful.
Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance. It is laying hold of His willingness.
Prayer is a powerful thing; for God has bound and tied himself thereunto.
Prayer is climbing into the heart of God.

Women’s Bible Study: 100 Days of Less Hustle, More Jesus.  Bring your Bible.  Tuesday mornings (10:30-noon) and Tuesday Evenings (6:30-8:00).

With the recent tragedies in our country, we’re reminded once again of how important it is to know how to help save the life of a severely wounded person. The only thing more tragic than a death from bleeding… is a death that could have been prevented.

Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action, and our own Laura & Jason Wright are certified Stop the Bleed trainers. They will be teaching a Stop the Bleed class on Tuesday, August 27 @6 PM to train, equip, and empower bystanders to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives

This class is open to the public, but you’ll need to register so we can be sure that there are enough materials for all. Sign up at the Info Table or at

A rite of passage program for Jr High girls and their moms, starting in September.
